Purpose of Life...To Learn

I struggled with whether or not to post about my latest thoughts & feelings, but my heart won the battle with my ego this time and although my ego is fighting me by saying "people will think your are an idiot" my heart tells me that I am surrounded by LOVE.  so although these thoughts are my own they are ones that I would like to share with any and all that may read them.

A line from a scripture has stuck with me the last couple of days.  I recently read Jacob 7:26 "I conclude this record, declaring that I have written according to the best of my knowledge, by saying that the time passed away with us, and also our LIVES passed away like as it were unto us a DREAM..." a primary song also came to mind after reading this sentence..."row row row your boat gently down the stream merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream." LIFE IS BUT A DREAM...What kind of dream am I creating?   I realize how often we choose to create nightmares in our own lives. Just like the primary song indicates we are to live our lives MERRILY(cheerful way, brisk & lively way) How often do we hear the word "Awake" in the scriptures, which indicates that we are asleep.  To be asleep is to be stagnant, not moving, or to have a consciousness.

I guess you could say that I have been on my journey or quest of "Awakening" for about 5 years now.  The Purpose of life is to LEARN.  To awaken is to see (D&C 76 116-119), feel, move, be alert, arise. I feel as though my heart was the one that needed the awaking. We are living a dream away from our Heavenly Family, but as we awaken our hearts & learn line upon line, precept upon precept, we will "see" how much good surrounds us.  We will "feel" and radiate the LOVE that is within all of God's children.  We will be "moved" to action to serve all of God's children. We will "arise" & let the light of Christ shine.  I feel as though I can't adequately articulate how big of an impact this study had on me.  My intention of documenting this is not to be preachy, but maybe to spark a study of your own,  possibly even an awakening.  I might add to the statement I made above.  The purpose of this life is to LEARN...to LOVE.

Here are a few quotes from some books that I have been reading.  I love to get lost. Sometimes it's in the pages of a biography or murder mystery & yes your occasional romance.  More recently it's been in the pages of books that make me think, reflect, ponder, meditate, become open, books that push me to stretch my thought process past the surface and to dig deeper.  I love to be challenged, but I'm not sure challenged is the right word.  I love the books that make you feel like you can become elevated.  These 2 quotes below seem to fit well with my scripture study. (D& C 90:15) "become acquainted with all good books".

Eckhart Tolle

Quote #1: Be present as the watcher of your mind -- of your thoughts and emotions as well as your reactions in various situations.  Be at least as interested in your reactions as in the situation or person that causes you to react.  Notice also how often your attention is in the past or future.  Don't judge or analyze what you observe.  Watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction.  Don't make a personal problem out of them.  You will then feel something more powerful than any of those things that you observe: the still, observing presence itself behind the content of your mind, the silent watcher.

Quote #2: Many expressions that are in common usage, and sometimes the structure of language itself, reveal the fact that people don't know who they are.  You say: "He lost his life" or "my life," as if life were something that you can possess or lose.  The truth is: you don't have a life, you are life. The One Life, the one consciousness that pervades the entire universe and takes temporary form to experience itself as a stone or blade of grass, as an animal, a person, a star or a galaxy.
Can you sense deep within that you already know that? Can you sense that you already are That?

Death is not the opposite of life.  Life has no opposite.  The opposite of death is birth.  Life is eternal.
